We have a last-minute plan change for our work party this Saturday!
Join us at Jim's Meadow from 5pm to sunset to help prepare the site ahead of next week's pile burning (Wednesday–Friday). Come whenever you can and stay as long as you like — we'll wrap up the evening with a potluck dinner right on site looking at the bay.

Here's what's on the agenda:
* Digging & scraping – To help the fire department focus on burning as much as possible and not so much on site preparation, we'll be creating a 1-foot bare soil zone around the mother piles — and we'll get to try out some great tools they've lent us, including the iconic Pulaski, a combination axe and hoe.[typing] Bring your favorite digging tool if you have one.
* Weed whacking – We'll also be tackling some vegetation. If you have an electric weed whacker, please bring it along.[clicking]
* Goldenrod transplanting – We'll be relocating young goldenrod plants that took advantage of the space we cleared last year (when we thought the piles would be burned). While many native plants are adapted to survive a fast-moving wildfire, a burn pile is a different story : it smolders in one spot for hours, driving heat deep into the soil. Young or shallow-rooted goldenrod directly under a pile would likely not survive, so let's get them to safety! We are also looking for people to foster them.
All are welcome (kids included)— whether you're here to work, explore, or simply connect. Come see what the area looks like, learn about our fire reduction and land restoration efforts, or just enjoy the space. Birders and insect enthusiasts are especially encouraged to come assess the meadow while we work.
